Professor Lord Bhattacharyya, Chairman and Founder, WMG:
At the WMG Academy for Young Engineers we aim to inspire, educate and transform the education of hundreds of local teenagers. Every engineer in Britain knows that a passion for engineering begins well before you leave school. We want young people in Coventry, Warwickshire, Solihull and beyond to see how the principles of science, engineering and technology can help them change the world.
We are offering young people an opportunity to study an industry-led curriculum that will give them a wide range of skills that employers are looking for. The WMG Academy is about equipping people with academic knowledge with practical application. Special attention will be given to technologies used by local employers in automotive, aerospace and high-value manufacturing, combined with the particular importance of digital technology.”
The WMG Academy for Young Engineers is a brand new school for 14-18 year old students. With its fresh new approach, the WMG Academy embeds business in education providing its students with a business-like, business-led ethos. We are equipping our students with academic knowledge with practical application.
At the WMG Academy for Young Engineers we aim to inspire, educate and transform the education of students who have a passion for creating, doing and designing things. There are no selection criteria for entrance to the WMG Academy, however there will be an obvious focus on engineering based skills.
We are taking applications for September 2016 entry to the WMG Academy. You can find out more about applying to the academy on the following pages. Information on our curriculum can be found here and you can find out all about our employer partners here.
